NUTCRACKERS DISPLAYED: The Hubbard Historical Society's McBride House, 27 Hager St., will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. On display will be Lucille Wilson's nutcracker collection, with items ranging in size from 6 inches to 6 feet. Nutcrackers became popular in America after the end of World War II. Admission is free.
CENTER OPEN FOR FIRST NIGHT: OH?WOW!?The Roger and Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science and Technology will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. today for First Night Youngstown.
CONCERT FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE: A five-hour, New Year's Eve gospel concert will be begin at 7 p.m. today at the North Lima Business Complex auditorium. Nationally known soloist Jerry Garcia of Adrian, Mich., will be featured for the event hosted by the Golden Street Singers of Farmdale. Also performing will be Bill Sanders of Ypsilanti, Mich., an award-winning country gospel music artist.
Door prizes will be awarded including a two-night stay at Seven Springs Mountain Resort at Seven Springs, Pa. There is no admission charge for the concert. Refreshments will be provided.

ALLIANCE SETS EVENT: The Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Mount Carmel Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown. Cultural enrichment will be provided by Philippine Bamboo Dancers organized by Lita Sevilla, wife of event speaker Escarlito Sevilla, who will speak on "Old World Traditions: Lost and Retained Philippine."
