Coming Sunday...

NILES More than five years after starting the process to adopt a child, a Niles family is still fighting to get custody of their daughter.

Stacey and Matt Emch fell in love with Ameera from the moment they saw her.

"Your life changes forever," Stacey said.

After spending thousands of dollars and traveling overseas 19 times, they finally brought her home to America.

Now, even though she is a part of their family, they are stuck in limbo as they are not yet recognized as her legal guardians.

"Socially, she's doing really well. She's had a lot of anxiety issues because we came and left all the time. She's starting to understand 'We're not going to leave you, you don't have to go back to Guatemala,'" Stacey Emch said.
