LIBERTY - Each month the Ethnic Heritage Society of the Mahoning Valley comes together to showcase culture and diversity.
The Rev. Joseph Rudjak of Holy Apostle Parish said every month is a different discussion and program.
This month included a performance by the Happy Hearts Croation Junior Tamburitzans who spoke of their recent trip to an international convocation in Croatia.
Rudjak said the group discussed the importance of family and traditions and fostering the ethnic culture of the area.
He said the programs allow for sharing of ideas and better communication.
"Churches and cultural organizations throughout the Valley are challenged by the need to interest young people in their heritage," Rudjak said.
The group meets the third Saturday of each month.
The next program is 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Kravitz Deli, Belmont Avenue in Liberty with genealogist Bob Jerin, who will discuss practical steps to take to benefit from resources at Ellis Island.
