KENT HOSTS SCHOLARSHIP RECEPTION: Kent State University at Trumbull will host the 2013-14 scholarship reception at 3 p.m. Friday in Room 117 of the Technology Building on the campus. More than 160 Kent State Trumbull students will be honored as recipients of a variety of scholarships.
HUBBARD TO SHOWCASE FOOD: The sixth annual Taste of Hubbard will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Harding Park. There will be food, restored cars, an auction and music. Food stations will be at the Kyle Pavilion.
FUNDRAISER SET: A fundraiser will be held at 9 p.m. Friday at the Funny Farm Comedy Club, 6292 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. The event will include a comedy show. Proceeds from the event will be for the Clare Bridge Austintown's Walk to End Alzheimer's 2013 Team, Brookdale AlzStars. All proceeds from this evening will benefit the Alzheimer's Association-Greater East Ohio Area Chapter.
SPEAKER TO ADDRESS NETWORKING: Sonya M. Wagasky, a business opportunity specialist with the Small Business Administration's Cleveland District office, will give a presentation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Raymond Wean Foundation, 147 W. Market St., Warren. Registration is free and includes refreshments. Wagasky will discuss the National Association of Professional Women, which provides networking opportunities for women business owners. The program is being sponsored by Dress for Success. GROUP HOLDING CHARITY TOURNAMENT: A charity cornhole tournament will be held Saturday at O'Donold's, 6000 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. Registration begins at noon. The event will include cash prizes, 50-50 raffle and Chinese auction. All proceeds benefit the homeless dogs of Trumbull and Mahoning counties.
