WARREN - The United Way of Trumbull County has returned to using the traditional campaign thermometer to show progress in meeting its fundraising goal.
The United Way recently erected the 2013 campaign thermometer in front of the YMCA in Warren with children in the after-school program attending.
Representatives of the Mahoning / Trumbull County AFL-CIO counselors and carpenters Local 171 erected the thermometer.
Ginny Pasha, United Way president, said it has been several years since they have placed a thermometer for the community to see.
''We believe that by setting a goal and then placing the thermometer in a highly visible location the community will be able to share in United Way's fund raising success,'' Pasha said.
Jim Whetstone, campaign chairman, said the United Way cannot raise the money without the help of the public.
''There is a direct correlation between the number of people in Trumbull County who have access to needed services and the amount of food raised through the campaign. It is truly neighbor helping neighbor,'' he said.
