Boy steps on syringe while playing in Warren
WARREN - A city woman told police her 11-year-old son stepped on a syringe that was in the grass and punctured his foot Sunday while playing in a yard on Buckeye Street.
Roni Elix, 815 Kenilworth S.E., told police she found a needle and a spoon with residue on it, according to a Warren police report. The report states Elix planned to take her son to Trumbull Memorial Hospital to be assessed.
Police said they advised Elix that the needle would be logged into evidence and kept at the police department if it was needed for testing.
Body discovered in McDonald's parking lot
WARREN - City police are investigating the Sunday afternoon discovery of a man's body inside a vehicle parked at McDonald's restaurant on South Street.
Police said they found the body of Michael R. Marks, 55, 3444 S. Canal St., Newton Falls, when they were called to the restaurant about 4:50 p.m. It is not clear how long the vehicle had been parked at the restaurant or how long Marks' body had been there.
A Warren police report indicates suspected drug use. The Trumbull County Coroner's Office said on Tuesday that an autopsy was performed on the body, which showed decomposition, and toxicology results are pending.
Woman taken to hospital after assault
GIRARD - Police are investigating an assault after a woman flagged down a patrolman about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday outside her Dearborn Street home.
The woman told police she fell asleep with the lights on, doors unlocked and open. She awakened to find the lights off and a man with a beard and dark hair in the house, a police report states.
The intruder hit her in the face and choked her, the report states. The victim told the intruder she didn't want to die, at which point he fled the residence.
The woman was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center for unspecified injuries, according to police.
Man stabbed at his residence in Warren
WARREN - Police are investigating the Monday night stabbing of a city man.
Police were called to Trumbull Memorial Hospital about 9 p.m. in reference to a stabbing victim, according to a Warren police report. The report states that Maurice Lowery, 45, 814 Hollywood N.E., was being taken to surgery and was not able to speak with officers at the time.
Reports indicate the stabbing took place at Lowery's residence. No other information was available.
Profanities painted on Warren business
WARREN - The back wall of a local business was spray-painted with graffiti last week, according to city police.
Vandals painted the back of the Warren Boxing Gym on Main Avenue with profanities and racial and gang graffiti between noon Wednesday and 2 p.m. Thursday, according to a Warren police report.
Workers at the gym, who reported the matter to police Friday afternoon, said they do not believe they know who is responsible, the report states.
Hubbard woman says child was raped
WARREN - City police are investigating an allegation of rape of a 4-year-old girl.
A Hubbard woman reported an alleged rape to Warren police on Sunday. However, a Warren police report indicates an assault took place sometime between Aug. 15 and Sunday at a Glenwood Street residence.
No other information was available.
