NILES - Cordell J. Hall, 82, passed away at 10:12 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
He was born in Clarkrange, Tenn., Aug. 22, 1931, the son of Delbert and Frankie Jane Ashburn Hall.
Mr. Hall worked at U.S. Steel for more than 32 years before his retirement in 1982 in several positions, including as a crane man as well as overseeing various steel production.
Following his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to garage sales and rummage sales and taking trips to Tennessee.
He also had enjoyed working on cars and planting a large garden annually and had been avid fisherman.
Cordell is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, the former Juanita Hodge, and two sons, Clayton (Beverly) Hall and Jimmy (Kelly) Hall, all of Niles; two daughters, Kathy (Chuck) Mitchell of Salem and Mary McClimans (Rick McElroy) of Austintown; two brothers, Orville (Virginia) Hall and Lloyd Hall, both of Niles; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Cordell was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Hall, on May 11, 2010; his brother, Aubra "Orbie" Hall; and three sisters, Ina Orwig, Doris Evans and Alma Jones.
Friends and family may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Niles Chapel, 415 Robbins Ave. Niles, OH 44446, where there will be funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Interment will take place at the Niles City Cemetery.
