WARREN - Dr. Laura Meeks, president of Eastern Gateway Community College, will be the keynote speaker at Women's Equality Day at noon Monday at the Women's Park next to City Hall on Mahoning Avenue.
The annual celebration recognizes the passage of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote.
In addition to Meek's keynote speech, the program will include a special presentation entitled, "Advances for Women's Equality since 1920." Musical entertainment will be provided by the Chord of Appeals.
Eastern Gateway serves Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Jefferson counties.
Meeks received the 2013 Athena Award, which was presented by the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber. She serves on the Mahoning Valley Economic Competitiveness Committee, Trumbull 100 board, Northeast Ohio Council for Higher Education and the Trumbull County Workforce Investment Board.
Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs, as seating is limited.
Refreshments will be served following the program, which is presented by the League of Women Voters of Trumbull County, the Upton Association, Warren Civic League, GFWC Ohio Warren Junior Women's League, and GFWC Warren City Federation of Women's Clubs.
