LIBRARY HOLDS BOOK SALE: The main branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, will be closed Saturday to accommodate the annual Friends of the Warren Library book sale being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The book sale is open to the public and will be held on the second floor of the library. Branch libraries that are typically open on Saturday (in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, and Liberty) will remain open.
ASSOCIATION TO HOLD PICNIC: The Historic Perkins Neighborhood Association will hold the annual summer picnic for residents of the immediate Perkins area neighborhood from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Belmont and Pine avenues, Warren. The event will include 50-50 raffle, food, games, face painting, door prizes and live music.
RUMMAGE SALE AT CHURCH: St. William Parish, 5431 Mahoning Ave., Champion, is hosting its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (bag day). Lunch counter is available.

CAR SHOW SET: The Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club will hold the 35th annual car show and flea market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Boardman Park. There is no charge. Children ages 5 to 17 can compete in the Pinewood Derby races. Proceeds will help Cayden Perry, 1, who was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis and kidney disease.
FINALE EVENT: The McKinley Memorial Library summer reading finale picnic will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday on the front lawn. The event is for children who took part in the summer reading program. Children will receive hot dogs and popsicles, hear stories, and play lawn games. The kids' summer grand prize drawings will take place as well. No registration is required.
BAND TO PERFORM: The Cortland Community Band will perform as part of the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles summer lawn concert at 7 p.m. Thursday. The band will also perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at Victoria House, Austintown.
GOLF EVENT TO HELP HOSPITAL: The third annual "Clubs for Kids" golf classic to benefit Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley will be held Friday at The Youngstown Country Club. Registration and lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and the golf tournament will begin at noon. The event will conclude with a cocktail reception, dinner, presentation of prizes and a silent auction. MYCAP BEGINS HEAD START PROGRAM: New and re-enrollment for MYCAP's Head Start Program in Mahoning County will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Sebring United Methodist Church, 126 West Indiana Ave., during the annual village wide garage sale event. If parents are re-enrolling their children they do not have to complete another application, but there will be screenings for vision, hearing, height, weight, blood pressure and developmental skills.
