SCHOOL HOLDS POKER RUN: Fairhaven School, 420 Lincoln Way, Niles, will hold a poker run and cornhole tournament from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: St. Mary Church will hold the annual parish raffle and ice cream social from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the church parking lot. Volunteers are needed on Saturday to help prepare for the event and on Sunday to help set up and put away tables.
CONCERT TO HELP MAN: A benefit concert for Jody Daniels will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at 717 Union Hall, 2950 Sferra Ave. N.W., Warren. In 2012, Daniels was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disorder, after battling with the symptoms unknowingly for five years. He is in need of a thymectomy which is the removal of the thymus gland. Proceeds from the event will help with medical expenses and cost for the surgery.
CAR CRUISE TO HELP SCOUT: Nash Timko's car show and cruise-in will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hartford Center, state Routes 7 and 305. The event is an Eagle Scout project fund raiser. Timko plans to build a trophy case for Badger Elementary School. The event will include door prizes; 50/50 drawing; food, music and entertainment by DJ "Goody.''
HONOR VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers will be recognized by the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership from 5 to 8 p.m. today at a volunteer recognition ceremony at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 West Federal St., Youngstown. Over the past year volunteers helped with various projects and programs such as job fairs, health fairs, mailings, outreach activities, community parades, and office tasks.
