Residents of Shepherd of the Valley - Niles have spent the last few months learning, creating and painting in preparation of the LeadingAge Ohio Regional Resident Forum Art and Writing Show.
Of 33 pieces of residents' artwork entered in the show, three artists from SOV-Niles went on to win at the regional art show held May 15.
Sarah Gallagher, Cliff Kline and Josephine Brumbaugh earned ribbons for their entries in the contest.
"They do everything. Anything that inspires them," said Kim Osborn, activity director for SOV-Niles and Boardman. "It's important for people to realize that everyone, even those of a 'certain age,' continues to learn and grow and uncover hidden talents. Who knows? We may have discovered another Grandma Moses."
In addition to the Niles residents, two residents from SOV-Boardman earned winning ribbons for artwork. Marilyn Barnhart and Lucille VanAllen will join the Niles winners when their artwork is entered in the statewide show in conjunction with the LeadingAge Ohio Annual Conference Sept. 10 to 12 in Columbus.
Formerly AOPHA, LeadingAge Ohio is a nonprofit organization that represents nearly 400 long-term care facilities in Ohio. The organization will be celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
