WARREN - The death of a Hemlock Avenue man whose body was discovered at his home last week has been ruled a homicide.
Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk on Monday confirmed that Donald Jones, 56, 1003 Hemlock Ave. S.E., died by blunt force head trauma.
Jones' death marks the city's fifth homicide of the year. There were five homicides in Warren in 2012.
Police discovered Jones' partially decomposed body at the home about 3 p.m. Thursday after neighbors called to complain about a foul odor coming from the house. No one else was in the home when police arrived.
Germaniuk said it is not yet known when Jones died.
Police have said little about the matter. However, last week Warren police Lt. Jeff Cole confirmed investigators believed Jones had been beaten to death.
No arrests had been made, and police had no suspects as of Monday.
On Friday, residents of the quiet neighborhood said they weren't surprised police found a body inside the house because of the odor. However, they were shocked to learn Jones may have met foul play and likely was beaten to death.
According to the Trumbull County Auditor's website, the house is owned by Lawrence E. Jones J/S Patricia L. Jones of Warren.
Neighbors said they believe Jones had a physical disability, and that he lived by himself. They said he rode his bicycle regularly.
