CORTLAND - A glimpse of Cortland Banks' rich 121-year history showed through this week when renovations at the community bank's main office exposed the original brick facade.
Growth in the retail and mortgage branch operations triggered the need for the renovation, which began over the weekend. It will affect the main office lobby and customer service areas along West Main Street, and is expected to last through April.
The renovation includes the addition of offices for new accounts, Cortland Investment Group and CSB Mortgage Company Inc., wholesale mortgage personnel.
The result is expected to improve accessibility to loan and banker personnel, increase privacy and create a more inviting appearance.
During the demolition phase, bank officials said the original brick facade was exposed and could be seen through openings in the ceiling.
The bank was founded in 1892.
