Songwriting workshop taught at library
A free songwriting workshop is planned at 6 p.m. Monday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren.
This workshop is designed for the beginning songwriter as well as those who are a bit more advanced. Marc Black will use techniques that build confidence and keep a personal touch in songwriting. Attendees will be encouraged to perform songs they've written or present ideas of things they'd like to write about. Black was named Folk Artist of the Year on ABC Radio's Fame Games and was a finalist in the prestigious Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for emerging songwriters.
The workshop is free and open to the public and is being held in conjunction with the film series "America's Music: A Film History of Our Popular Music From Blues to Bluegrass to Broadway,'' which will run April 2 to May 18 at the library. For more information, call 330-399-8807, Ext. 128.
Cortland library offers nature program
A program will offer tips on how to attract birds and other wildlife into the backyard at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cortland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 578 Lakeview Drive.
Amy Reeher, watershed coordinator for the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District, will discuss how to bring visitors to a backyard habitat or feeder.

YSU guitarists plays JCC
Youngstown State University's Guitar Studio will play a lunch-time concert on March 21 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown's J Cafe, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown.
Classical music and jazz standards will be performed by students of the Dana School of Music from noon to 1:30 p.m. Jazz guitar duos and classical guitar quartets will be featured.

'Lion King' returns to Cleveland
Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday for the return of ''The Lion King'' to Cleveland's PlayhouseSquare.
The musical, which has been seen by more than 66 million people worldwide through 20 global productions, continues to run on Broadway in its 16th year. It won six Tony Award in 1998, including Best Musical.
It will run July 9 through Aug. 4 with show times at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $20 to $130 and will be available at www.playhousesquare.org and by calling 216-241-6000.
