The 2013 Straw Hat Theatre summer season will "Ease on Down the Road" and go "Under the Sea."
The series will open on June 7 with the musical comedy "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It will run for three weekends.
Other shows in the series include:
"Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr.," a children's production based on the Disney animated film that includes such songs as "Part of Your World" and "Under the Sea." Performance dates are June 28, 29, 30 and July 4, 5, 6.
"Legally Blonde: The Musical," based on the popular Reese Witherspoon movie. Performance dates are July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26 and 27.
"The Wiz," a reimagination of "The Wizard of Oz" that won seven Tony Awards during its original Broadway run. The score features a mix of rock, gospel and soul. Performance dates are Aug. 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16 and 17.
The four musicals will be staged on the covered outdoor stage on the ground of the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St. Season tickets are $43.20 for adults, $36 for students and senior citizens and $32.40 for children ages 12 and younger.
