Longtime Howland High School football coach Dick Angle may be calling it quits.
A news conference will be held at 11 a.m. today at Howland High School, and sources have said Angle, the Tigers' football coach for the past 15 seasons, will retire. Angle earned a 262-168-3 record since taking over at Howland in 1998. He took Howland to the playoffs nine times during that span (the Tigers had one postseason appearance prior to Angle's hiring), and Angle helped send countless players to Division I universities. Just last month, running back De'Veon Smith accepted a scholarship to the University of Michigan, and wide receiver Brendan Cope took his talents to Ohio University.
Angle also spent 17 years at Ursuline and took the Fighting Irish to the state semifinals. He also coached at Keystone Oaks, Kennedy Catholic and Lakeview (Pa.).
