Response for lost dog heartwarming

DEAR EDITOR:

It seems that in this day and age, you can easily lose faith in people and think that there is no one out there who cares about their neighbor. I found that not to be true.

My brother had lost his dog Ruby over the Christmas holidays. He lives out of state, and Ruby didn't know me well enough to come to me, and was very shy around strangers. Working full time made it difficult to search for her during the day.

I contacted all the dog wardens, animal charity organizations in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. I also used Facebook to spread the word. ''Bring Mabel Home'' and ''K9 Crusaders'' and some personal Facebook users all posted my poster. We posted posters all over the area where she was last seen.

I was overwhelmed by the response from caring people who helped me search for Ruby. During all the miserable weather we have had there were people looking and sending in sightings every day.

Unfortunately, the outcome wasn't what we had hoped. But we did find closure.

I would like to remind everyone that there are still good people in our community and would like to thank them for all their help.
