More swimmers qualify for district meet at Cleveland St.

Howland's Aimee Gysegem and Brandon Sekanick are heading to this weekend's district swimming meet at Cleveland State University.

Gysegem, who won both the Division I 200- and 500-yard freestyle sectional event at the Spire Institute in Geneva on Saturday, has the fifth-best qualifying time for the 200 and second best in the 500. Gysegem's time is .61 seconds behind top-seeded Paige Kelly of Hudson.

Sekanick, who took fourth in the 100 breaststroke at the Division II sectional at Hawken High School Saturday, got an at-large bid and has the fifth best time entering districts.

Ursuline's John Tomko is third in the 200 freestyle and second in the 500 freestyle.

Canfield's 200 and 400 freestyle relays are seeded first, while Connor Brady (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke) and Nicholas Moltalto (50, 100 freestyle) are seeded in the top five.

In the Division II girls, Hubbard's Julia Castner is top five in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while Poland diver Celia Melillo is fourth. Youngstown Christian's Mikayla Morrow is third in the 100 breaststroke.

In the Division I girls, Warren G. Harding's Emily Thirion is third in the 100 butterfly and seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

In the Division I boys, Boardman's Ryan Bailey is the top seed in the 100 butterfly and second in the 100 breaststroke. Warren G. Harding's 200 medley relay and Dylan Thirion in the 100 freestyle are both seeded sixth.
