Warren power outage lasts about 45 minutes
WARREN - For a little less than an hour Wednesday afternoon, the power went out in the south side of the city near the intersection of Franklin and East Market.
At 2:09 p.m. Wednesday, 195 customers lost power due to primary wires touching, according to Ohio Edison representative Robin Patton. The power returned at 2:57 p.m. and did not cause any accidents, according to the Warren Police Department.
Woman in apartment fire died of smoke inhalation
BOARDMAN - A woman killed in a fire at a Lockwood Boulevard apartment complex died of smoke inhalation, according to the Mahoning County Coroner's office.
Shawna Carney, 45, died after she was found at the Mill Creek Apartment Complex at 6849 Lockwood Blvd. Firefighters are still searching for a cause of the blaze, which started in her apartment.
Carney was found in her apartment and taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center Boardman Campus, where she later died.
Warren police looking for hit-skip vehicle
WARREN - City police are asking for the public's help in solving a Jan. 16 hit-skip at the intersection of South Street and Main Avenue S.W. that caused an electrical pole to catch fire.
Damage was reported about 2:35 a.m. to the main light pole at the corner of the intersection. Police said they believe a vehicle hit the pole, causing significant damage to the pole's main power box.
Based on debris at the scene, the vehicle is a red 1993 to 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and likely has heavy front end damage, police said. It appeared the vehicle continued traveling south after the crash, then traveled east on South Street and down Warren Boulevard, police said.

Nominations sought for Community Star program
Nominations are being sought for the Tribune Chronicle Community Star program.
Now in its 12th year, the program celebrates the volunteers who have had a significant influence on Trumbull County, be it through tireless hours of service, random acts of kindness or a single moment of courage.
The 10 people chosen will be recognized in a special section published in the newspaper, and treated to a banquet open to the community at W.D. Packard Music Hall on March 19.
