Urban 4-H program offered

URBAN 4-H PROGRAM OFFERED: The Ohio 4-H program is known for its leadership in building strong youth development programs across the nation. The program includes not only the farming community but extends to the suburbs and inner-city. A program is offered at the Mahoning Valley Hope Center, 3217 Surrey Road, S.E., Warren. VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR PROGRAM: The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership will provide free basic tax service to eligible low- and moderate-income individuals, families and senior citizens. The annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax preparation assistance to those who need to file local, state and federal taxes, but who can't afford to pay to have their taxes prepared. Beginning in January, training sessions will be held in Room 2221 in the Williamson School of Business Building on the Youngstown State University campus. Those who complete the training will then be able to assist eligible Mahoning County residents with their taxes on select dates and times in February and March at the MYCAP office, 1325 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. The sessions are on three Saturdays Jan. 5, 19 and 26. For information about becoming a VITA volunteer, call Francine at MYCAP at 330-747-7921, Ext. 1738.
