YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown State University is seeking employers to participate in a new internship and co-op program for the coming year.
A $575,000 grant from the Ohio Board of Regents will fund more than 100 internships and co-op placements in subjects such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, accounting, finance, management and marketing (or S.T.E.M.).
Advanced manufacturing and technology industries including biohealth, additive manufacturing, aerospace and aviation, financial services and information technology are among the targeted industries for the placements, which will begin as early as the spring semester.
The Program for Internships and Co-ops in Advanced Manufacturing and Related Industries is designed to give students a more competitive position in the job market by enhancing their career-related work experience in the S.T.E.M. and business fields as well as provide entry-level professionals to local employers.
An information session and breakfast will be held next week for employers who want more information about the program and how to get involved. The presentation will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday in the Williamson College of Business Administration.
