WARREN -- A city man told police that two armed and masked men beat him and threatened to kill his 2-year-old daughter at knifepoint Sunday unless he gave them prescription painkillers.
According to police reports, Edward Simmons, 53, of Jefferson St. S.W., told police that one masked man grabbed his daughter, put a kitchen steak knife to her throat and said he would kill her if Simmons continued to deny he had any pills.
Simmons did not report the incident until this morning. He told police he drove the girl to his ex-wife's mother's home in Pennsylvania before reporting the incident.
Neither Simmons nor his daughter sustained serious injury during the incident, reports said.
Simmons told police that men forced Simmons into his house at gunpoint and demanded to know where he kept pain pills. Simmons said the only medication he has is for a kidney ailment, which was stolen, along with a bankcard and checks.
