WARREN - Lawrence Montecalvo, 79, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
He was born April 25, 1933, in Warren, the son of the late Joseph and Angela Capito Montecalvo.
Larry joined the U.S. Navy on July 14, 1950. After being discharged from the Navy, he married the former Shirley Novak on Oct. 10, 1952.

He served the community as an officer with the Warren City Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in 1991.
Larry was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, where he was an usher.
He enjoyed golfing and bowling, having managed Echo Lanes in Warren for 20 years following his retirement. He and his wife enjoyed spending their summers at their home on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Montecalvo of Warren; three sons, Lawrence G. (Suzanne) Montecalvo of Warren, Michael (Mary Ann) Montecalvo of Warren and Ted J. (Susan) Montecalvo of Niles; a daughter, Holly Montecalvo of Warren; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Angela, Elizabeth, Annamarie, Therese, Geno, McKenzie, Marissa and Gabrielle; a brother, Joseph Montecalvo; and a sister, Kathy Smejkal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Nick Montecalvo; and a sister, Patricia Turbovich.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where services will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m.
