NILES - David K. Kellogg Sr., 70, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

Dave was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Warren, the son of Kenneth A. and Anne B. Kellogg.

In his youth, he loved exploring the outdoors, playing baseball and driving fast cars. In high school he once shot a 65 as part of the Warren G. Harding Golf Team - back when they were the Panthers! He even threw a touchdown pass to local NFL Hall of Famer Paul Warfield during his football days.

While his life would continue to be complemented by achievement, what would define his life began with the courting of Rosalyn Vandy during the '50s, known as the Golden Age.

Dave and Roz Kellogg were married July 21, 1962, a union that would last for more than 50 years. They would have three children, David (Brooke) Kellogg Jr. of Plainfield, Ill., Kristin Kellogg Reichard of Niles and Steven (Kim) Kellogg of Hinckley.

His professional career speaks to his creativity, adaptability and intelligence. Attending college and vocational schools, Dave worked as a highly skilled tradesman in a variety of disciplines. At the age of 35, he changed career paths and studied to become an investment broker, and retired in 2004 as the owner of Kellogg Financial Services. His work life was guided by a special commitment to excellence in everything he did, improving the lives of those he touched with the highest integrity as their advocate and friend.

His moral compass always guiding his actions, he will proudly and lovingly be remembered for being a beloved son, husband, father and friend. His lasting spirit can be felt in the serenity of his landscaping, the beauty of his gardens, the warmth of his hand-crafted home, the deep roar of his motorcycle and the lasting elegance of his woodworking. But for all of his special talents and gifts greatest love was his family, and his life continues to shine through those closest to him, both past and present.

He is vibrantly survived by his three children, David Jr., Kristin and Steven (he is not the oldest); eight grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, Katlyn, Caroline, Alissa, David, Emily and Abigail; and one sister, Judith Kellogg of Zellwood, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rodney Lee Kellogg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Officiating the services will be the Rev. Thomas Eisweirth.

Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road N.E., Warren.

Those who would like to make a charitable contribution in Dave's name may direct donations to Relay for Life Team at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road N.E., Warren, OH 44483. Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery, Niles.
