Santa Claus to visit Tylee Park

SANTA TO VISIT CHILDREN AT PARK: Santa Claus will visit children from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day from Friday to Dec. 9 at Santa's Cottage in Tylee Park in Hubbard. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served around the fire, with caroling.

The event is free and sponsored by the Tylee Park Committee and Hubbard Historical Society.

OPEN HOUSE LAST FOR YEAR: The final open house at the John Stark Edwards House and Museum, 303 Monroe N.W., Warren, until April will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today. The featured talk will be given by Lindsay Muha, who will present her Youngstown State University dissertation on "Women in the Temperance Movement." Muha is a former intern at the museum.

Admission is free.

HISTORIC HOME DECORATED FOR HOLIDAYS: The Upton House on Mahoning Avenue, Warren, will be hosting an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The house will be decorated for a Victorian Christmas. On display will be vintage furs of all ages and styles as well as a table fair of Christmas dishes.

The event is free.

POLICE HOLD FOOD DRIVE: The Lordstown Police Departments food drive is marking its fourth year and will be held through Dec. 10. All food donated stays in Lordstown and is donated to families and individuals who need help in the village. The food will be divided among 20 families in the village for Christmas.

LIBRARY HOLDS BASKET RAFFLE: The Bristol Public Library is concluding its 100th year celebration, with a gift basket give away through Dec. 10. Every time a person visits the library and checks out materials, the person will receive one basket drawing ticket.

Baskets include a Christmas basket, bird lover basket, men's basket, gardening basket and two children's baskets, one for children ages 4 to 8 and one for children ages 9 to 12. Patrons are permitted one ticket per day. All tickets must be turned in by 7 p.m. Dec. 10, with the drawing on Dec. 11.

CHRISTMAS BENEFIT SCHEDULED: Up A Creek on East Market Street, Howland, is holding a Christmas benefit all day on Saturday with proceeds from all sales to benefit the Catholic Charities. The event will include basket raffles, giveaways, 50-50 raffle and food.

AUTHOR CHAT SET AT LIBRARY: A Virtual Author Chat with Debbie Macomber will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave., N.W., Warren.

Drawing on her own experiences and observations, Macomber writes tales about small-town life, home and family. Macomber has written a cookbook, children's book and nonfiction inspirational books. The event is free.

WINTER CLOTHING HELP SET: Trumbull Community Action Program's winter crisis program provides assistance of up to $175 toward their winter heating expenses for those who qualify. Beginning on Dec. 3, Monday through Friday, applications will be taken for the first 25 persons in line on a first-come-first-served basis. On Mondays only, 25 additional walk-in appointments will be seen in the afternoon.
