New this week on DVD:

"Men in Black III" - A decade after the second film, this sci-fi action / comedy franchise returns with Agent J (Will Smith) traveling back in time to 1969 to save his partner, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones), from an alien assassination. Josh Brolin plays Agent K when the action goes back to the '60s.

The DVD includes a gag reel, the featurette "Partners in Time: The Making of MIB" and a music video for Pitbull's "Back in Time." The Blu-ray adds a "Spot the Alien" game and two additional featurettes. And those who opt for the 3D version also will get "The Case of Boris the Animal: The 3D Models of MIB3" and featurette on the 3D conversion. (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, $30.99 DVD, $40.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo, $55.99 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/DVD combo)

"Sparkle" - Whitney Houston makes her final screen appearance here, but "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks is the star of this remake about a young singer who forms a girl group with her sisters and encounters the temptations of celebrity and the music business. Carmen Ejogo, Tiki Sumpter, Mike Epps, Derek Luke and CeeLo Green co-star.

Director Salim Akil does a commentary track and the DVD also includes two featurettes, "A Tribute to Whitney Houston" and "A Dream Come True." Blu-ray buyers get two additional featurettes, an extended performance of "Hooked on Your Love" and a music video for the Houston/Sparks duet "Celebrate." (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, $30.99 DVD, $35.99 Blu-ray)

"ParaNorman" - A boy who can speak to the dead must use his powers to save his hometown from a deadly curse in this stop-motion animated feature by the folks responsible for "Coraline." The voice cast features Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Casey Affleck, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Leslie Mann and Jeff Garlin.

Directors Sam Fell and Chris Butler also collaborate on a commentary track, and the disc includes preliminary animatic sequences, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film and seven short featurettes focusing on Norman and the other characters. (Universal Studios Home Entertainment, $29.98 DVD, $34.98 Blu-ray/DVD combo, $49.98 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/DVD combo)

Director Scott Speer is joined by choreographer Jamal Sims and cast members McCormick and Guzman on a commentary track. The disc also include deleted scenes, a collection of the movie's flash mob scenes, music videos for "Goin' In" (J. Lo featuring Flo Rida and Lil Jon) and "Hands in the Air" (Timbaland featuring Ne-Yo) and the featurettes "Becoming a Star," "Choreography," "Dancing on Their Own" and "Making the Mob." (Lionsgate Home Entertainment, $29.95 DVD, $39.99 Blu-ray)

Viewed through that 100-proof prism, "Lawless" is a fun, bloody crime story where the excesses are part of the charm. However, if director John Hillcoat and screenwriter Nick Cave was aiming for "Bonnie and Clyde" resonance, it's closer in tone to "Bloody Mama" and the other knock-offs that "Bonnie and Clyde" inspired. (Anchor Bay, $29.98 DVD, $39.99 Blu-ray)
