WARREN - A teen was shot in the stomach Tuesday evening at the intersection of McKinley and Logan Avenue.

Police Lt. Martin Gargas, who was at the scene, said a 16-year-old black male was shot and transported by ambulance to Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Police did not release names of the victim or suspects, but residents gathered at the scene identified the teen who was shot as Marcus Lowery. A Trumbull Memorial Hospital spokesman said a Marcus Lowery was brought into the emergency room and then transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. A spokesman said the hospital did not have a patient registered by that name.

Police were called just after 9:30 p.m. on a report of a teen shot, with a person or persons fleeing in the Woodland Avenue area.

Police along with canine units were seen searching the nearby streets off Woodland Avenue for the two other people connected with the shooting.

Gargas and Patrolman Frank Tempesta found the weapon they believe was used a short distance from the intersection off McKinley Avenue.

Gargas said witnesses were giving their accounts of what happened to police detectives.

Area residents told the Tribune Chronicle about hearing loud voices, possibly an argument among two or three people they described as three teenagers, in the middle of the street before hearing a single gunshot.

Police remained on the scene late Tuesday. Further details were not available.
