Ignac Ipsa, 1915-2012

SANDUSKY - Ignac Ipsa, 97, died peacefully in his sleep at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 2012, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky.

He was born Feb. 1, 1915, in the small hilltop village of Madarevo, Novi Marof, Croatia, the son of the late Stjepan and Marija Pintac Ipsa.

As a young man he apprenticed as a butcher and then as a welder and immigrated to the United States with his young family in the early '50s. He worked most of his career for Ajax Magnethermic Corp. in Warren and retired in 1980. For the past four years, he lived in Sandusky at the Providence of Commons Apartments. He enjoyed walks by the lake, enjoyed life to the fullest and played the harmonica at the monthly birthday parties. He was a member of Calvary Temple in Sandusky. He loved reading the Bible and shared his faith in the Lord with all who would listen. He had a keen interest in studying what the Bible says about the end times and the second coming of Christ.

Survivors include his children, Albert (Jeanne) Ipsa of Cincinnati, Irma (the Rev. David) Snyder of Sandusky and Mary (Jack Jr.) Taylor of Warren; six grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Ipsa, Aaron (Eleonora) Ipsa, Lainie Ipsa, Eric (Sonya) Snyder, Krista (Michael) Chambers and Mark (Alexandra) Taylor; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helene (Kirisits) Ipsa; his parents; his brothers, Ivan and Juraj Ipsa; and a sister, Elizabeta Ferencina.

The Rev. David Snyder will officiate the funeral services at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where family and friends may visit from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
