Border
Alice went out of her way to help people in need, even when things were tight for her. She will be remembered for being the neighborhood mom. If she didn't have a carload of children taking them to Waddell Park to play or to her various hot spots to find pine cones, you probably found her cooking a delicious breakfast for her children and anyone else in the neighborhood who happened to stop over.
Alice was an avid reader and had a large collection of owls, which she loved. What she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by her children, Wendi (Clyde) Henderson of Richmond, Va., Patricia (Scott) Wyatt of Niles, James W. (Kim) Border of McDonald, Robert M. Border of Vienna, Kathy (Michael) Hite of Champion and Amy (Ralph) McElhinney of Lancaster, Pa. A sister, Thelma (Dale) Wogan of Howland, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Border. The last several years, Alice has been cared for by her daughter, Kathy, and her son, Robert, making sure her needs were met and her life enjoyable.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
The family requests that any material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley in her memory.
