TWIN LAKES, Mich. - Patricia L. "Pat" Nelson, 74, of Twin Lakes, Mich., formerly of the Youngstown-Warren area, was called home on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, while in Mercy General Hospital, Muskegon, Mich.
Pat was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Tarentum, Pa., a daughter of Richard E. and Jane Wangler Campbell.
A homemaker, she enjoyed dancing and music, especially country music. An avid fan of George Strait, she enjoyed his live performance in concert. She also enjoyed backstreet rummy, canasta, "her version," and Skip-Bo, playing with all of her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She truly enjoyed the TCM and AMC movie channels, with her favorite actors being John Wayne and Patrick Swayze.
She lived by the motto "I Will Survive" as she battled bladder cancer and kidney disease.
Known as a caregiver, especially to her family and friends, she supported several charitable organizations, especially LaBrae Indian School and St. Joseph Indian School. A collector of Native American Indian decor, she was a caregiver to her family and friends, all of whom loved her and will miss her dearly. Her tremendous sense of humor has been passed through the generations.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Diane (Walter) Bayley of Columbus and Denise Thurik of Muskegon; her son, John (Meagan) Thurik Jr. of Muskegon; a stepson, Joseph Radman of Columbiana; a sister, Judy (Ed) Pritchard of Marietta, Ga.; her brothers, Jerry (Rebecca) Campbell of Harmony, Fla., and Terry (Claire) Campbell of Murphy, N.C.; her 12 grandchildren, Brittany, Jeffrey, Kristin, Brooke, Jimmy, Joe, Teddi, Danny, Stefanie, Tiffany, Mikayla, Johnny Joe, and Zachary; and her five great-grandchildren, Abigale, Seth, Joshua, Aubrey and Vanessa.
Her husband, John Joseph Thurik Sr., whom she married July 22, 1963, preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Aurelio; five siblings during childhood and infancy; a sister, Darlene Wright; and her husband, Bernie Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. David Luther officiating at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, where friends may call for two hours prior to the services.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to one of Pat's favorites charities.
