Robert Q. ‘‘Red’’ Tyrrell 1928-2008

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert Q. ‘‘Red’’ Tyrrell, 79, Youngstown, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Ireland Cancer Center in Cleveland.

He was born May 16, 1928, in Youngstown, the son of James and Helen Quigley Tyrrell.

Mr. Tyrrell served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a crew chief for Corsair aircraft.

He starred in a live show on WKBN-TV for children called ‘‘Clancy’s Tip Top Club House,’’ with his puppet, Sherlock Bones.

He retired from Packard Electric.

Mr. Tyrrell is survived by his wife, Rosemary O’Neil Tyrrell; and five children, Robert of Charlotte, N.C., Sean of Columbus, Timothy of Hollywood, Fla., Maureen of Cleveland and Patrick of Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his brother.

Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at St. Edward Church in Youngstown. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
