July 29, 2013

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is spending much of his time these days jetting around the country to spread his woe-is-us message to the Pentagon’s civilian worker....

"On the political trail"??? How the sam hill do you figure that? The guy is not elected. The is a cabinet member of a lame duck President. Seems to me he is visiting his employees...you know, the people he is the boss of. Guess the Trib doesn't think that's a good idea. Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta in 2012 asked lawmakers for two rounds of the Base Realignment and Closure negotiation process, with the first this year. The 2013 budget begins the military’s postwar downsizing by slashing $487 billion over 10 years. In Europe, 97 military sites have been closed and 23,000 acres have been returned to host countries. Another 23 locations, most in Germany, will shut down in the next four years. In South Korea, the Army has closed or will close more than 50 installations. How's that Mr. FG? Oh yes, not shown on Faux News!

Hagel is Obama's puppet. He is a reflection of Obama's ideological view of the World and will succumb to his savior's demands. Family has it right - close unneeded installations overseas and eliminate unneeded and UNWANTED programs by the military, but passed because a member of Congress will gain favor in his or her district.

Hagel is just emulating the conduct of his boss.

Hagel was appointed to run the defense department and he is showing his inability to manage if it involves making tough choices. So lets just run around the country and blame someone else instead.

Memo to Hagel:

why do you not close down some no longer necessary foreign bases which make foreign military contract employees rich and move these troops back home and have them supported by American contract employees?

Hagel is right on this issue. The NeoCon Republicans & Tea Party are to blame for the Sequester. They will soon be responsible for the total government shutdown in September since they refuse to pass a compromise reasonable budget. They only worry about one thing - tax cuts for the Richest Americans.
