Andy you are what a community columnist should be. I have been tired of the other community columnists being like the editor and being corporate tools.

Not so sure I agree.... but it is YOUR opinion after all. Just because someone doesn't visit a beach doesn't mean they aren't happy where they are. In fact who cares about a beach if you have the warmer climate and don't have to deal with blizzards, snow, ice, or any of the crap you deal with in the winter? So I will continue to fight to get out of Ohio one day. When the kids are older and I can finally enjoy sunsets and sunrises in the comfort of my QUIET home. Paradise is what YOU make it, and HOW you want to make it... it is different for everyone.

"How does using the beach less make Ohio a better place?" -- You've obviously missed the entire point of his column.

"How many people do you know left Ohio and are sorry they did?" -- Actually, I know quite a few, many of whom have moved back and are quite content.

"People change and habits change. Again, how does that improve Ohio? This state is the same. Loving or hating your new state does not change that." -- Again, the point of this column has gone right over your head. All states are the same and loving or hating them doesn't change that. That's the point.

"That was a poor question to ask people. Trips to the beach lessen with age." -- Do they? Do you live near a beach? How many people have you spoken with to substantiate that claim? The columnist was quoting real people, not surmising based on assumptions and loathing. But while we're at it, I lived 5 minutes away from the east coast and could have counted on 1 hand the number of times

That was a poor question to ask people. Trips to the beach lessen with age.
