May 3, 2013

At another time, in a different context, Sens. Joe Manchin and Pat Toomey might have been successful in a proposal they and two other senators offered recently....

"Moreover, the internet sales that the bill refered to are those sales generated by classified ads within the buyer and sellers geographic location where the interested parties make arrangements to meet in a neutral location and make the deal cash and carry, again without the background check. " As long as it is face to face, it would still be a felony to do it to a felon. BUUUUUUT, you progressitards don't want to mention that inconvient truth. Sad

Sorry familyguy, you are incorrect. I am against the Manchin Toomey legislation and most all gun control based on the fact the government cannot be trusted with anything. However, there is a HUGE gun show loophole that does exist and to deny otherwise is pure folly. Having attended numerous gun shows over the last 20 years, I can point to numerous "vendors" who do NOT have a dealers license who buy, sell and trade guns all weekend long and will and do sell to practically anyone with the cash. Not to mention the "floor whores" who linger about all day flipping gun after gun, all without doing a background check on the buyer.

Moreover, the internet sales that the bill refered to are those sales generated by classified ads within the buyer and sellers geographic location where the interested parties make arrangements to meet in a neutral location and make the deal cash and carry, again without the background check.

It's all about control.

The claim that gun sales at gun shows are exempt from background checks is pure malarkey. The vast majority of sales take place with licensed firearm dealers who performed the required background checks.

The same is true for Internet gun sales. Online gun sales are delivered through a local licensed firearms dealer where a background check is part of the process.

Shame on those politicians who were just waiting for a horrific incident in order to impose their control on law abiding American gunowners While failing to address the nut jobs who actually commit these horrific crimes.

Laws should not be ramroded through Congress based solely on emotion.

It's all about control.

"Close the gun debate. Open the mental health debate."

That means Defeat can be included since she's clearly in that class.

"We currently have what is known as a tyranny of the minority"

Yep... thankfully she's in the minority.

Close the gun debate. Open the mental health debate. All this conversation does is make people feel good about themselves.

You're right, aeneid (or is it Virgil?).

We currently have what is known as a tyranny of the minority -- hardly conducive to progress.

Reform or eliminate the filibuster and then you'll see bills actually pass through the Senate.
