marine - thanks for making my point. With that attitude nothing is resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. Incidently, I served as Chief Negotiator (management)during contract talks with our union, and also served as Chief, EEO Counselor for a period of about 5 years. All to say I know a little bit about human resource practices, how to bring parties to a win-win, and understand discrimination and how to support and resolve the issue, when appropriate. The union president that I negotiated with was a personal friend of mine, approached every issue with an open mind, and never threatened or acting like an ass. Because of that, we all won.

Mrright, your so called facts on several occasions have been false.

Alfret, one of my all time favorite sayings from The Company "lucky to have a job", always laughed. If I'm working, then more times than not, the company is making omoney! If I werent working one place, well I'd be working at another. Just think there's a lot more to this story.

Been in 4 contract negotiatons while grievance man and vice president of a local steelworkers union AFRET. Never needed a mediator. If we did, and you showed up, we would have thrown your biased butt out the door.

feather - I didn't offer an opinion. Don't have the time now (dinners almost ready)...will go into more detail tomorrow. Check back. Not an expert marine, but a lot smarter than you. Your experience (other than stupid comments)?

mmaohio: Unions have a dismal record of job retention, Stating the Union record is not 'talking' its fact.

People talking about the unions are the lazy pushovers who let's people step all over them because they don't have the balls to do anything but bend over..they have no self respect or have any idea what loyalty is....keep crying though

Easy to bark out opinions without the facts. Afret, you mentioned you were trained as a Federal mediator, surely you've seen both sides. There have been a lot of accusations from both sides, would really like more details.
