BOARDMAN — Lauren Casassa says she’s always up to bat when there are two outs. But she says she has never been up with a tie game, two outs, the winning run on second base during a win-or-go-home national tournament game. Casassa was on Tuesday, and she delivered. Casassa ripped a double down the left-field line, scoring teammate Paije Kiraly from second base, giving the 12-and-under Valley Extreme a 5-4 victory over the Banshees from Horsham, Pa., in the PONY National Fastpitch Softball Tournament. “I’m always up with two outs,” said the 12-year-old, who attends Lakeview schools. “My teammates have always said that one day, a hit is going to get through when I’m in that situation. Today it did.” While Lauren said she knew what she had to do in that situation, her father, Rick, the coach of the Valley Extreme, could only think one thing as his daughter walked up to the plate. “Please hit the ball,” he said.
