Songs of Christmas: A Jim Croce/Robert Earl Keen twofer

December 23, 2013 - Andy Gray
I missed yesterday’s post. What can I say? I’m on vacation.

I’ll make up with it by posting a twofer. Click the first link for Jim Croce’s “It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way.” Croce was one of my first favorite singers (I was 11 when he died in 1973 in a plane crash), and I think he’s criminally underrated, especially by critics.

Click the second link for a more irreverent song, Robert Earl Keen’s “Merry Christmas from the Family,” which I feel safe in saying holds the distinction of being the only Christmas songs that mentions tampons.

Croce was an amazing singer. "I've Got a Name" is one of my favorites.

I think the Tribune is behaving just as you would under the circumstances warrenproud. Would you allow a person to come into your home 30 or 40 times a day slandering people, race baiting, name calling, and attempting to totally control the subject matter to be discussed. I'm thinking you would not. Well that is just exactly what usblues/liberalserfdom/realytieredofit was doing at the Tribune's house. After they had repeatedly removed him from membership only to have him return with a whole batch of new names they evidently decided that they would tolerate it no more. It is sad what one out of control person can do to limit open discussion.

Good morning to all!

Too bad the Trib has decided to shutdown all comments and forums.

I guess that's what happens to a newspaper that's about to go under.

Have a great day - be careful out there in today's predicted snow storm.

20. Youngstown, Ohio Though only number 20 on the most miserable list, this city has steadily struggled for 21 years with large out-migration rates since the close of the steel mill many years ago.

OK Andy, you win the Internet this week. That Keen song is the funniest thing I've ever heard.
