Flu forces changes
January 4, 2013 - Frank Robinson
The flu must be getting pretty bad in this area for this kind of action to be taken by Humility of Mary Health Partners. Here is a press release:
Because of a high number of flu cases, Humility of Mary Health Partners is offering guidelines for hospital visits. The hospital urges anyone who is not feeling well not to come to the hospital to visit someone because they could run the risk of infecting patients and staff, according to a release from the health system. Also, no visitors younger than 14 are allowed because children are exposed to more germs and can infect others and can also catch the flu while at the hospital, the release states. The practice of one family member staying the night has been rescinded as well until flu cases subside except for a gravely ill or minor patient, the release states. Also, waiting rooms will not be allowed to be used for people staying overnight. To avoid the flu, HMHP recommends to stay away from crowded areas, wash your hands often, cough into your sleeve or a tissue and to stay home if you are sick. The guidelines are in place immediately at all HMHP buildings until flu cases recede, according to the release.
