A win is a win

It wasn't pretty, it wasn't flashy, but it was a win for the Youngstown State University Penguins, 31-24 over Albany.

But what I truly think happened on Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium was a wake up call. And it came at the perfect time.

YSU is headed into conference play this Saturday, against a very tough Northern Iowa team. The Penguins used a lot of energy to defeat Pitt, then pretty much had an off week against Valparaiso. It took almost three quarters for YSU to play the way I knew they could play, and they can get away with it against a good Albany team, but they wouldn't be able to get away with it against a very good UNI squad.

I hope this week the Penguins learned their lesson that they can't come out flat, and they need to be ready for everything against UNI.
