BEREA -- If Colt McCoy plans to win the competition with rookie Brandon Weeden at quarterback, he better pick up the pace on the practice field.

McCoy looked bad for a second time in view of the media Wednesday. Several of his throws were off target, usually near the receiver's feet.

McCoy acutally looekd like the third-best quarterback on the field. Weeden continues to perform better than McCoy, and Seneca Wallace also looks better.

Weeden wasn't perfect by any means. Safety Eric Hagg intercepted one of his passes during 11-on-11 drills. At the end of the session a Weeden deep throw for rookie receiver Travis Benjamin was picked off by rookie cornerback Trevin Wade.

There's still a long way to go until the season opener, but it's hard to believe that McCoy will be the starter. It appears his confidence is shot.

CAMP NOTES: Cornerback Dimitri Patterson stripped the ball from receiver Greg Little. Patterson neatly picked up the fumble and raced untouched towards the goal line...

Little lost 11 ponds during the offseason on the advice of coach Pat Shurmur. He feels the loss of eight has increased his speed. The key now is to do something to cut down on the number of dropped passes -- he had a league-high 14 last season...

How did Little lose 11 pounds? Chris Gocong's wife baked cupcakes once a week during the season and Little made sure he had his fair share. "I ate about seven to 10," he said...

Hagg, a second-year safety from Nebraska, continues to work with the first-team defense at free safety. It appears the coaches are intent on giving Hagg a chance to unseat Usama Young as the starter...

Linebacker Scott Fujita was a no-show. It's believed that he was in Philadelphia to attend a union grievance meeting concerning the players that were suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the Saints' bounty scandal...

Rookie offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz worked at right tackle with the first-team offense. Schwartz was behind Oniel Cousins when OTAs started a week ago Tuesday. Look for Schwartz to be the starter for the opener...
