Almost back

August 22, 2011 - Mike McLain
BEREA -- Receiver Mohamed Massaquoi won't play Thursday in a presesaon game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he's close to getting playing time.

Massaquoi's injured foot is almost completely healed. He hasn't practiced yet, but the plan is to get him on the field perhaps as soon as next week.

Massaquoi better get back soon. Joshua Cribbs is set to start at flanker. Rookie Greg Little continues to push for more time. He's developed chemistry with quarterback Colt McCoy.

The player that could be pushed back in the mix when Massaquoi returns is Brian Robiskie, who's listed on the depth chart as the starting spilt end. He has been quiet most of training camp and could be knocked back to second team once Massaquoi is back.

Little's developement is huge to the receiving corps. He has the look of the number receiver Braylon Edwards was supposed to be but wasn't. The ball seems to find Little, although he doesn't always make the catch.

Little heard from team president Mike Holmgren about his post-touchdown celebration against the Lions last Friday in which he kicked the ball into the stands. Holmgren said that he told Little shortly after draft day that he would be in his life in the future.

Little welcomes Holmgren's presence. He says that it's a pleasure having someone with Holmgren's experience around to lend advice.

Tight end Evan Moore was an observer at practice Monday. He was shielded from reporters by a member of the team's PR staff and didn't return to the field after going inside.

Rookie cornerback Buster Skrine pulled "something," according to coach Pat Shurmur, and wasn't able to finish practice. Skrine is having a good camp and is legitimately contending with Dimitri Patterson for the third cornerback spot.
